Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also sings. She was also the very first and youngest female to be awarded a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was one of the Indian young sitar artist. She is the student and child of Ravi Shankar. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. Her early years were split in London as well as New Delhi. The first time she performed was at New Delhi at the tender age of 13. In the following years the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school. She graduated with distinction in 1999. Anouskha still has a promising performing and recording careers, even though she's only a teenager. Her father has been with her on numerous occasions for many years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. It was followed by the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years after. Her stage career is very vast as she has been in every one of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't only limited to music. She published Bapi The Love of My Life in the year 2002. The book is a biography which pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. Also, she has acted. In 2003's film Dance Like a Man, where she portrayed a Bharat Natyam dancer young girl. Anoushka continues to grow on her path and will surely be new things that will be coming from this talented lady. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent much of her youth living between London and Delhi then moving to California where she attended high school. From the age of nine she began her studies in music under her father making her performing debut with the sitar four years later at the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka gained a lot of experience touring across the globe with her father. She appeared in Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. Her artistry and musicianship was recognized by British parliament as the best in Asian Arts.
